Originally from Lisbon, Portugal, Pedro Horta started playing the violin in 3rd grade in New York via the Suzuki method, eventually landing spots as first chair at his middle and high school orchestras in San Antonio, TX. At age 15, he got his first drum kit and started teaching himself playing along to Led Zeppelin, The Police, and U2 records... After 2 years as a Physics major at Amherst College, MA, he switched to Music, focusing on classical & jazz composition. Pedro apprenticed under the great jazz drummer Billy Arnold (Springfield, MA) and studied jazz piano & music theory with Andy Jaffe (Berklee College of Music, Amherst College). Since graduating in '95, Pedro has worked in San Francisco, Oakland, Madison, Milwaukee, and Austin, playing drums and keys, scoring original music/sound design for theater, and teaching drum lessons.
